Desert Loyalties

Mandrake:
I’ve never had anything that was truly mine, especially not a woman. For a year, I watched Skye rise from the wreckage, from bartender to something fierce and untouchable. She burned with a broken kind of strength, and it lit something inside me. I held back, gave her space to heal, to rise on her own. But I’m done waiting.
I finally claim her, and almost instantly, I’m staring down 25 years for a crime I didn’t commit.
